Free games for kids age 5 to 8
Children aged 5 to 8 are ready for simple goals, but not for complicated controls or anything scary. We picked games on Joyo with clear rules, mouse or touch controls, and no chat or sign-up.
For the youngest (5-6)
Claw Machine: Animal Friends is a colourful claw game: move the claw, drop it at the right moment and collect plush animals. Animals Jigsaw Puzzle lets children build animal pictures with a preview to help.
Learning while playing
Math Stars is made for ages 6-7: answer addition and subtraction questions to travel between planets. Quiz Journey: Trivia Adventure suits older children who like general knowledge.
Gentle puzzles and adventures (7-8)
Save My Human is a tile-by-tile puzzle where a brave cat rescues its owner. DADDY MOUSE is a 2D platformer about bringing cheese home to the family, and it works on phones and tablets.
Tips for parents
- Play the first minute together to check the game is the right level.
- Prefer games with mouse or touch only; many keys are hard at this age.
- Set a time limit before starting, not after.
