What are .io games?
You have probably seen game names ending in ".io", like Agar.io or Slither.io. The ".io" is just the end of the web address; early hits used it, and it became the name of a whole style of game.
What makes a game an ".io game"
- A shared arena: you play in the same space as other players or computer bots.
- Grow to win: you start small and get bigger by collecting things or beating smaller players.
- Short rounds: losing is quick, and you can jump straight back in.
- No account: type a nickname and play.
Good .io games to start with
Sink Hole is a swallow-the-city game with four modes. Vacuum.IO turns you into a robot vacuum collecting trash, and Cube Snake 2048 mixes Snake with number merging: collect cubes and eat players with a smaller number.
Tips for beginners
- Stay away from bigger players at the start.
- Collect the small free items first; they add up fast.
- Never use your real name as a nickname.
